Lessons during lockdowns.
This studio began in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as Lucas Avery Voice Studio: an exclusively virtual online voice lesson experience during the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. At the time, the idea of teaching voice virtually as a regular, primary practice was a fairly new phenomenon that many of us had to adapt to and incorporate into our everyday workflow.
A core tenet of this studio from the beginning has been the idea of self-discovery, the joy of learning where music can take a soul if we just sit down and let it bring us there. Many of our students began their studies here during the initial months of the pandemic, not as another way to add to their daily grind, but as a chance to slow down and gain a deeper understanding of what it means to truly live in the moment of one's artistry.

Teaching in-person again:
With the advent of widely available vaccines, the doors opened to a hybrid lesson model. What was unexpected was the number of people who chose to remain remote even when in-person lessons became an option again. Some students had moved away since beginning their lessons; some had picked up heavier workloads and preferred the lack of commute. Some simply preferred the comfort and privacy of their own bedrooms or offices. Regardless of reason, it seemed virtual lessons were thriving and here to stay.

We can think bigger.
At the end of 2023, the studio keyboard finally gave out and was replaced by an upright piano. We expanded our reach and began offering piano lessons as well as music theory tutoring. Students of Lucas Avery Voice Studio have found success in the local live music scene and gone on to study with faculty at Louisiana State University and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
But many of our students don't pursue those goals, and a measure we hold dear is that the value of art is never determined by any arbitrary measure of success. Whether a student is pursuing professional studies or simply wants to feel more comfortable in their own skin at open mic night, our primary goal — student driven lesson planning — has never wavered.

Today and onward:
At the end of June, Lucas Avery Voice Studio closed its doors, packed up and relocated to Colorado, and rebranded to Ta Voix Studio LLC. We are so excited for this fresh start and can't wait to see what the future has in store for us as we expand not only into teaching lessons, but into holding pedagogy consultations and community workshops. Our mission has never wavered, and neither has our belief that every artist who joins our studio has their own unique story to tell. We hope you allow us to help you tell your story and join us as we step together towards building a better and brighter tomorrow, one song at a time.
